Gotta love small towns

Post  Auraflare on Tue Nov 11, 2008 6:32 pm

Well, the hubby (keep in mind he is leaving the country in a coupla weeks) had a craving for donuts and bratwurst (yes i know, again he's leaving the country soon). Well.... yea... nearest dunkin donuts.... 15 miles (or 34 mins). At least we got a post office XD.

had this craving for sushi, real miso, and other asian delights. Did some wandering around the area (sometimes the best way to find something is to get lost in your own backyard), found an asian market. SCORE!. Not much selection by bigger town standards, but asian cuisine is rather simple. A few ingrediants working together in harmony. Spent about 100 bucks. XD. Get home, and realize i forgot to get soy sauce. rofl. But i made myself a simple Udon with Squid, chives, seaweed and a nice red miso. Followed by a nice cup of green tea and some Japanese sweets. (THEY HAD MOCHI!) also managed to score some stuff to make my own sushi. ^^. Small town life aint so bad. It gets me back in the kitchen, doing something i've been doing since i could see over the counter. Putting together a few simple things into something that comforts and excites the senses. Now just gotta find some corned beef and cabbage fixings and i'll be set. to bad i can't find scrapple up here ; ;.

That sounds so good. I just ate lunch and now I'm hungry again. All your fault. Sad

sorry man. just was so excited about finding that place lol. I don't usually use recipes either. just go by feel and taste. Somehow tho, i got the broth just right for the udon. And i wasn't using that powdered miso crap. Was using the paste (only way to go i feel).
