Crystalline Prophecy gear

Looks like this mini-expansion will offer a choice between 3 body pieces, which each have base stats to them, plus 2 additional effects that you get to choose to customize the armor further. Could be nice, but we'll see. I can't imagine them being too hard to get, so are they really going to give us body pieces better than some of the stuff we already have?

Lots of nice possibilities for some jobs. I'm disappointed that the base pieces aren't "All Jobs," so I can't make a Hauby for my WHM

damn... gimmie the war set with +10 acc and +2% double attack... yes, please. Or acc +10 and Att +10 and its a Hauberk without the evasion loss

It's magic attack+4, but that combination would be a nice dual-purpose piece for damage on low-resist mobs, as well as a Fast Cast piece for Stun/Drain/Aspir.
For high resist mobs/NMs it will suck compared to weskit unless you put in the magic acc+4 instead of fast cast.

The models for all these pieces are absolutely butt ugly. I don't think I could wear any of them except as a macro piece.

I think the other 2 pieces look decent, but the mage one is horrible. Still, I can't think of any better use I could put this to, so I'll probably take the mage one with +10 acc, +10 atk.

-I could go for a WHM/BST piece, but when I'm /BST, I'd rather melee in nobles for the auto-refresh.

-With the 5 INT and adding MAB+4, it may beat NQ weskit for nuking by a very small amount. Also +20 MP to your nuking set. Throw on Macc+4 and combined with the INT, it's may be slightly better for your accuracy set, depending on what other pieces of gear you have. The fast-cast could make it decent for stun/drain/aspir, but it's -5% to casting time and -2.5% to recast (which is more important as the casting time is already nothing), so you're better off with Nashira or Goliard anyway. Though with the fast cast, you could be a perfectionist and start casting every spell in fast cast gear (this, rostrums, loq. ear), and then swap in MAB/skill/etc gear before cast goes off to maximize both casting time and whatever else you want to maximize for the cast.. Meh.

-Nothing I can do for WHM except a melee piece with acc+atk

Hopefully they make some modifications before release, but I'm not counting on it.

DRG can now make themselves a Hauby. Isn't that a really good thing? I honestly haven't looked into DRG gear much, but I've heard them complain about not getting Hauby an awful lot over the years

They got Zahak's Mail.

Askar is still better, gives me a 6hit and with capped merits and other gear my acc is far from terrible. But I am thinking of putting acc10 and crit3 on the piece for drakesbane since that is the only possible thing I could see myself using it for until I get Zahak's mail. Or it could be a tp piece for hnms with the acc and something else, which we all know isn't going to happen because we melee on shit lol
